About these terms

These terms apply when you use the website of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, Ghana. The SRC and Erudite Africa Network (EAN), the company that built and runs the website, provide it together. By using the website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

02

Who may use the website

The website is open to everyone who wants to learn about the SRC. You must be at least 14 to send us information through it. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian first.

03

Is the information correct?

We work to keep the website up to date, but information can go out of date. Please confirm important details, such as fees, deadlines, dates and office hours, with the office concerned. If you find a mistake, tell us.

04

Using the website properly

Please do not:

  • send false, misleading or abusive messages;
  • try to break, overload or get into the website or its servers without permission;
  • copy, scrape or resell content in bulk without permission;
  • use the website to harass, threaten or trick anyone;
  • use the website for anything against the law.

If the website is being misused, we may limit access to it.

05

What you send us

If you send a message, a bio or a photo, please make sure it is true as far as you know and that you are allowed to send it. You allow the SRC and EAN to use it to reply to you, to review it and to run the service. A bio is published only after the SRC has reviewed it. Please do not send passwords or private details about others.

06

Staff and officer accounts

Officers and staff who sign in must keep their password and sign in codes private and must not share them. They are responsible for what is done with their account.

07

Who is responsible for what

The SRC and EAN each look after their own part.

  • The SRC is responsible for the content it publishes, and for the accounts of its officers and staff, including keeping passwords safe.
  • EAN is responsible for keeping the website and its servers secure.

If a problem happens because an account was not kept safe, that is the responsibility of the account holder and the office they work for. If it happens because the system was not kept secure, that is EAN’s responsibility.

08

Who owns what

The website, its design and its content belong to the SRC, UMaT, EAN or the people who license them to us. You may use them for yourself, not for business. The UMaT name and crest and the SRC logo are protected. Please do not use them without written permission.

09

Availability

We work to keep the website running, but we cannot promise it will never stop, for example during maintenance, power or network problems, or when many people visit at once. We may change or remove parts of it.

10

Links to other sites

The website may link to sites run by others, such as the student portal and social media. We do not control them and are not responsible for what is on them.

11

Limits of our responsibility

The website is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, the SRC, UMaT and EAN are not responsible for loss or harm caused by relying on information on the website, by the website being unavailable, or by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under Ghanaian law that cannot be taken away.

12

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. It is part of these terms.

13

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the website changes. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. If you keep using the website after a change, you accept the new terms.

14

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana can decide any dispute. We ask that you first contact us so we can try to sort it out.
