The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), has introduced a flexible school fees payment plan that allows students to pay their approved school fees in three instalments.
In a communiqué dated 20th October 2026 and signed by the Registrar, Dr Theophilus Andoh-Robertson, the University announced that the arrangement would enable students, particularly newly admitted students, to spread their fee payments across the academic year or semester, as applicable.
The arrangement is as follows;
First Instalment: 40% of their approved fees at the beginning of the academic year or semester
2nd Instalment: 30% at an appropriate point during the academic period.
3rd Instalment: 30% must be paid by the end of the academic year, before the commencement of semester examinations
The arrangement follows a directive issued by GTEC on 8 October 2026, which seeks to ease the financial burden on students and ensure that the requirement to pay fees in full upfront does not become a barrier to student enrolment or registration.
According to the communiqué, eligible students shall not be denied enrolment or registration solely because they are unable to pay their full approved fees upfront.
The University has also encouraged students who may have been unable to register under the previous full-payment requirement to contact the appropriate University offices for assistance with their enrolment or registration.
Management of University has urged all students to familiarise themselves with the new arrangement and adhere to the approved instalment payment schedule.
